The Code Navigation
button in Dreamweaver allows developers to jump directly from function to function. Yet it is only available from the Code Inspector panel, not the main editor. Here is how to restore it.
For developers, this is a boon, especially when dealing with larger PHP modules instead of pure page design, as is the case when coding for Drupal, amongst others.
A quick and dirty hack is to drag the code inspector panel to the main window and reduce the editor size to about nothing, then use this enlarged panel as the main editor window. However, this introduces focus issues.
But there's a better way, described by Danilo Celic on the Community MX site: a quick patch to
<DWMX home>\Configuration\Toolbars\toolbars.xmlis enough to restore the Code Navigator. Definitely worth a look if you're doing any coding in Dreamweaver MX.
Dreamweaver 8 is supposed to change this behaviour again, and should be here in a few weeks now.
